Postural Alignment (Structural Integration)
Structural Integration (also known as Rolfing) is a form of postural alignment, sharing many principles with The Alexander Technique, it uses hands-on pressure to release constrictions. Working with the connective tissue, experienced a little bit like a deep massage (with no cracking involved), the patterns of tension which hold the body in a set postural position are released.

This approach, which could be likened to body architecture, specifically works through the body, releasing and aligning the different structural blocks, allowing the body to comfortably and efficiently support itself, (without any aches and pains).
This specific process of release and renewal up through the body runs over a cycle of 10 sessions.

What do people come for structural integration for?
Due to its approach of working with the body as a whole, structural integration can be used to release a huge variety of conditions, including: postural issues, back pain, stiff neck, sciatica, post-surgery trauma, long-term injuries, joint pain, osteoarthritis, frozen shoulder & RSI (Repetative Strain Injury). It can also benefit more general issues leading to increased energy, improved flexibility, enhanced ease and efficiency of movement, as well as support major life transitions and emotional processes.
"If you can imagine how it feels to have a fluid, light, balanced body, free of pain, stiffness, and chronic stress, at ease with itself and the earth's gravitational field, then you will understand the goals of Structural Integration"
- Ida P. Rolf.

Testimonials

"My posture is the best it’s ever been and I now feel comfortable and centred, holding much less tension than before." Peter, Self-Employed.

"I first heard about Rolfing many years ago when I was doing my Alexander Training. There was a definite prejudice against it, since it was regarded as heavy, painful,...even brutal. My prejudices were completely confounded since I found Vicky's work to be deep andsubtle without being painful. I thought her approach was very considerate and caring." John, Alexander Therapist.

"At the end of the series of sessions I felt focused; more energised and had a welcome boost to my work as a therapist. I felt I was walking taller."
Stephen, Bowen Therapist.
